I am Gary Cheung from Studio Future Works.  Our studio is all about energy, industry and making for the future and has been exploring changing relations with energy in the workplace and the role of architecture in these transformations.  My project is aptly named the Automotive Laboratory focusing particularly on the future of zero carbon transport for Sheffield and the wider city region.

Each of us in the studio developed scenarios to explore the future of energy and industry in the wider Sheffield region.  Each individual project varies, and the relationship between projects and energy is connected to form the collective energy strategy.

Across the studio we are exploring various issues relating to climate change including; flooding, energy storage and distribution, zero carbon transport and carbon sequestration.  I was particularly focused on the connection of transport and infrastructure from a macro city region to micro street level…
